Highgate Tennis Club Rules

Highgate Tennis Club offers a structured membership environment with formal rules on court usage, attire, conduct, guest access, lessons, camps, and programming.

General Rules:

1. Membership And Court Use
- The courts are for members only; gate access codes must not be shared with
- non-members.
- Court time is allocated in one-hour slots. Players should be aware when others
are waiting and vacate courteously.

2. Code of Conduct and Etiquette
- Courts must be cleaned up after use—remove liter and debris. Members should be courteous to other players, staff, and guests, both on and off the courts.
- No profanity, yelling, or disrespectful behavior. Cell phones should be turned off or silenced on the courts to avoid disrupting play. Throwing racquets, using foul language, and disruptive behavior like excessive noise are not allowed.
- Avoid walking or crossing behind courts while points are in play; do not enter
adjoining courts mid-rally.
- Balls entering from adjacent courts should be called a “let” or returned only when
play on the other court has stopped.
- Maintain all gates closed during play to prevent injuries. Playing on wet courts or during lightning is prohibited for safety reasons.
Spectators:
- Spectators are not allowed on the courts during play.
Coaching:
-on court coaching is permitted by club-approved coaches only. Coaching without club-approval is prohibited. 

Disputes:
- In case of disputes, players should seek assistance from designated staff or follow the club's procedures.

3. Junior Policies
- Junior players (under 18) must follow the same one-hour time limits and etiquette rules.
- Junior players do not receive full membership privileges (voting, adult playing times)

4. Programs, Camps and Lessons

5. PUBLIC HOURS
- Mondays 9-11pm, Wednesdays 7-9am, Sundays 9-11pm
​- First come first serve

- Tennis only activity
- All club rules and etiquette must be followed
- No lessons or teaching activity
- Ball hoppers are not allowed
- A maximum of 3 tennis balls may be used per court
